Western Digital (WD) began to introduce a series of USB 3.0 portable hard drive on their family line. In addition, the WD My Book Essential is now available in a capacity of 3 terabytes.
Three types of WD product, My Passport Essential, My Passport Essential and My Book Essential SE announced has been present in the USB 3.0 connectivity. In addition to USB 3.0, they also can be used on USB 2.0.
Devices connected to USB 3.0, in theory, can have data transfer capability 5Gb/s. A High Definition video can be transferred to a duration of 120 minutes in 3 minutes with USB 3.0, while in USB 2.0 it took 12 minutes.
